MARTINEZ, Calif. – County Connection has announced that beginning Monday, a new service will be available for residents and visitors of Martinez.
Route 3 of the Martinez Community Shuttle will provide service between the downtown district and businesses along Arnold Drive, including the Village Oaks Shopping Center and Walmart. The new shuttle also serves the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center, Kaiser, Adult Education Services, and the Senior Center.
The idea of a community shuttle first emerged in the 2009 Downtown Martinez Community Based Transportation Plan, and support was reaffirmed in 2013 when County Connection conducted outreach efforts related to improving local transit service.
With funds available from the State Cap and Trade Program, County Connection is now able to make this service plan a reality. The Community Shuttle will run hourly between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m., Monday through Friday, and include several new stops on Estudillo, Pine, and Arnold streets – areas where no transit service currently exists.
All standard fares apply, including the free mid-day program for seniors (65-plus) and disabled passengers. Schedules are now available at Amtrak, the Chamber of Commerce, City offices and hospitals, but anyone can call County Connection customer service at (925) 676-7500 and get schedule and route information over the phone. The new schedule and route map will also be posted on County Connection’s website, countyconnection.com.
