MARTINEZ, Calif. – A car fire last week at a Martinez Chevron gas station, 1250 Morello Ave., could have been worse.

A black Ferrari identified as belonging to Al Cui caught fire after a spark ignited gasoline fumes when he was refueling his car Sunday night. The car became enveloped in flames.

A Chevron employee immediately shut off the pumps near the fiery car while other customers fled. Meanwhile, the Ferrari itself rolled away from the station and ended up in the street.

Martinez police said the station was undamaged and no one was hurt, although the car was destroyed. Morello Avenue was shut down in both directions for about 30 minutes until the fire was extinguished.
