MARTINEZ, Calif. – An investigation continues in a weekend shooting that left one person with non-life-threatening injuries.

Martinez Police Det. Gerardo Espinoza declined to go into specifics about the investigation, but said a “person of interest’’ is being sought in connection with the case.

The initial investigation into last Saturday’s shooting revealed the victim knew the suspect. The suspect fled the area in a gold four-door sedan. The suspect remains at large and the vehicle also has not been recovered.

Officers responded to a case of multiple shots being heard in the area of Fountainhead Court at 11:14 a.m. last Saturday. Upon arrival, officers found a 29-year-old male in his residence with a non-life threatening gunshot wound to his lower leg. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Another residence in the area also was struck by a bullet, where the female occupant was home at the time. She was not injured.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact MPD dispatch at (925) 372-3440.
