The Martinez Tribune, the most widely read newspaper serving the county seat of Contra Costa, is looking for Advertising Representatives in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Advertising Representatives will work to introduce our publication to new clientele, sell print and digital advertising, and service accounts. This means working with the sales team on developing new leads through cold calling, research, referrals, email, and attending applicable networking events. Advertising Representatives also work closely with our graphics department to develop ads and sales materials that best serve our clientele. They also assist in ensuring full and timely payment of contracted sales.

The right candidates must:

• Be reliable, self-motivated and organized;

• Have the ability to become comfortable with making cold calls;

• Have the ability to make accurate, rapid cost calculations (with a calculator);

• Possess a strong command of the English language and excellent verbal and written communication skills (second languages a plus).

Marketing/Communications backgrounds preferred, as well as those knowledgeable about the newspaper business, but we’ll train the right candidates.

Work hours are flexible and may, on occasion, require weekends and weeknights. Our offices are located in Martinez, California. Some telecommuting positions are also available.

The Martinez Tribune is now accepting applications  for a competitive internship program. The program will culminate with the hiring of one or more participating candidates.

The principal focus of the internship will be assisting the staff with generating leads, conducting interviews, writing copy, taking photographs, building pages, uploading content to the Tribune website and social media sites, and other duties within the newsroom.

Those with an interest in journalism, communications, graphic arts (including illustration) and web development will have the opportunity to work one-on-one with experienced professionals in producing a community newspaper. College credit may be available. This is an eight-week unpaid internship.

Business owner seeks Handyman/Assistant to help with various tasks around the East Bay.

A typical day may consist of driving around the Bay Area running errands, checking on one or more of the businesses, maintaining equipment, painting, cleaning, etc.

Candidate should be a creative thinker that is responsible and good with tools. Will train the right candidate.

Must have clean driving record and good references.

Small truck provided. Pay is $1,500-$1,800 per month DOE.

The Martinez Tribune is seeking experienced reporters to write stories and produce material for the Tribune’s print edition, website and social media sites.

The right candidate will have experience in reporting and editing. Must have knowledge of AP Style, type at least 45 words per minute, and possess strong communication skills. Journalism degree or equivalent experience required. Photography/videography skills a plus.

Flexible hours; some weekends and evenings.
