Unions endorse AnaMarie Avila Farias

The Contra Costa County Deputy Sheriffs Association, Firefighters Local 1230, and the Martinez and Pinole Police Officers Associations have all endorsed Martinez City Councilmember AnaMarie Avila Farias in her bid for the Contra Costa Board of Supervisors seat in District 5. These endorsements are the latest in a series for Avila Farias including the Central Labor Council of Contra Costa County and the East Bay Women’s Political Caucus.

“I am honored by the endorsements of our public safety leaders. These are the men and women who are on the front lines every day,” said Avila Farias. “I have always made the safety of our community a top priority and I will continue to work closely with our deputy sheriffs, our firefighters, and our local police officers to fight for our families and make sure we can make Contra Costa County a safe place to live.”

Avila Farias is a lifelong resident of Contra Costa County and grew up in Martinez, where she still lives with her husband and two children. She has 22 years of public service experience, is currently serving on the Martinez City Council, and is Governor Jerry Brown’s appointee to the Board of Directors of the California Housing Finance Agency.

The Contra Costa Deputy Sheriffs Association is dedicated to the security and well being of Contra Costa’s citizens and the protection of its employees. Firefighters Local 1230 includes over 450 firefighters from the Moraga-Orinda Fire District, Rodeo Hercules Fire District, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District, East Contra Costa County Fire District, the City of Pinole Fire Department, Kensington Fire District, and the City of El Cerrito Fire Department. The Pinole Police Employees represent the men and women of the Pinole Police Department. The Martinez Police Officers Association is a non-profit organization that represents sworn police officers and sergeants of the Martinez Police Department.
