Dennis Quinn passed away peacefully on Oct. 12, 2023. On May 25, 1952, Jack and Patricia Quinn joyously welcomed the birth of their second child, Dennis, who eventually became the second oldest of nine siblings who all grew up in the Sunset. Born in San Francisco, Dennis lived his whole life in the Bay Area, eventually moving to Martinez.
Dennis graduated from Sacred Heart High School (class of ’70) in San Francisco and attended the University of San Francisco. In 1979, Dennis met the love of his life, Vicky Cisneros. They married in 1980 and had two wonderful children, Bryan and Charlotte.
In 1977, Dennis graduated from the San Francisco Police Academy proudly carrying on the tradition of his grandfather William Quinn who was the Chief of Police of San Francisco. A highly regarded police officer (star 455), Dennis loved his work and retired as a Sergeant in December 2009. Even after retiring, he worked at the Academy part-time for 10 more years. Dennis is remembered by his colleagues as a gentleman who was always fair, honest, and very knowledgeable about police and community matters.
Dennis was a Civil War buff and had an artistic flair, spending hours on sketches, and arts and crafts. He loved the holidays when he enjoyed teasing his siblings lovingly and joked about fruit cocktails! When Bryan and Charlotte were young, Dennis volunteered for many years to dress as Santa to bring cheer to his kids and at the Curry Senior Center. He enjoyed traveling with his family and enjoyed the retired life adventuring with his wife Vicky around the world.
One of Dennis’ happiest moments was when Luka was born on May 16, 2022, and he and Vicky happily became devoted grandparents.
Dennis is preceded by his parents Patricia and Jack, and brother Paul. He is survived by sisters Carol (Paul), Sue (Paul), Joanne (Greg), brothers Phil (Jean), Greg, Sean and Kevin (Linda), nieces and nephews Kimberly, Jeffrey, Johnny, Dylan, Cullen, and Vincent, his loving children Bryan and Charlotte (Daniel), grandson Luka, and his lifelong partner, Vicky.
The memorial service will be held at Christ the King in Pleasant Hill at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 1st.
