Kara Kimber-Brown, 63, passed away on August 15, 2025, in Martinez, California. Born on August 7, 1962, in Kansas City, Kansas, Kara lived a vibrant and full life marked by creativity, compassion, and an enduring love for her family and community.
Kara’s early years were spent moving through various grade schools before settling in Pleasanton, California, where she graduated from Foothill High School. Her commitment to personal growth led her back to school later in life, and in 2001 she proudly earned an Associate’s Degree from Diablo Valley College.
Her professional journey was as dynamic as her personality. Kara began her career at the Lancome Counter at Emporium, where her flair for fashion and connection with people shone brightly. She later fulfilled a long-held dream of working in San Francisco as an executive assistant at prominent companies including Supercuts and LVMH. Her organizational talents and professionalism made her a valued presence wherever she worked. After a period at a computer consulting firm in Pleasant Hill, in 2005 Kara made the heartfelt decision to stay home and focus on raising her two daughters-a role she embraced with love and dedication.
In 2016, Kara realized another lifelong ambition by opening her own business. As the owner and operator of Deja Vu, A Unique Boutique in Pleasant Hill, she created a space that reflected her passion for fashion and community. The boutique thrived under her care until its closing in 2020.
Kara married Erik Brown in 1994, beginning a partnership filled with love and shared dreams. Together they recently celebrated 31 years of marriage. She was a devoted mother to their two daughters, Angie Brown and Bella Brown-roles that brought her immense pride and joy.
Beyond her professional accomplishments and family life, Kara was known for her zest for living. She loved music and dancing, often bringing energy and joy to any gathering. Her sense of style was unmistakable; fashion wasn’t just an interest-it was an expression of who she was. She also cherished travel and the opportunity it gave her to explore new places and connect with others.
Kara had a gift for making people feel seen and heard. Whether offering support during difficult times or simply being there to listen, she extended kindness freely. Her warmth touched many lives. Kara was also an animal lover, rescuing many cats and dogs over the course of her lifetime.
She leaves behind her beloved husband Erik Brown; daughters Angie Brown and Bella Brown; and countless friends who will remember her laughter, generosity, and spirit. She also leaves behind her brother Michael and his family (Laura, Caleb and Aiden) and her sister-in law, Randi Millman-Brown and her family (Mathea And Gabriel).
May Kara Kimber-Brown’s memory bring comfort to all who knew her and continue to inspire those whose lives she touched. A Celebration of Life will be held on September 20, 2025, from 01:00 PM to 06:00 PM at Hidden Valley Park Center in Martinez, CA.
