New York jumped out to an early 17 point lead but Golden State caught the Knicks mid way through the second quarter and led for most of the remainder of the game. It was the largest deficit the Warriors have rallied from to win this season.

Butler added eight rebounds and four assists to his game high scoring total while Moses Moody scored 21, connecting on 7-9 shots from three point range. Brandin Podziemski added 19 off the bench, going 8-9 from the field and registering a game high +22 for his time on the floor. Curry passed off for seven assists.

Asked about how Butler and the second unit changed the game, Warriors coach Steve Kerr stated, “That was the key stretch from the game to go down from 17 to only down five at the end of the first quarter. It just felt totally different. They came in and turned up the heat defensively, got some turnovers, some transition hoops. Jimmy was incredible tonight. I mean he’s so good, he’s so dominant in a very subtle way. He just controls the game, he never turns it over, creates shots for other people. With the emergence of De’Anthony (Melton) and Al (Horford) and the consistency that they’re showing off the bench, now we have a really good second unit around Jimmy so it’s fun to watch.”

The Knicks were lead by OG Anunoby and Miles McBride with 25 points each. Mikal Bridges added 21 while Karl-Anthony Towns scored 17 while adding a season high 20 rebounds. Josh Hart dished off a game high ten assists.
