Philadelphia’s Bryce Harper belts a fourth inning home run on the way to a four hit day against the Giants during the Phillies 13-0 win over San Francisco at Oracle Park Wednesday afternoon.

Harper’s second inning homer off Giants starter and loser Justin Verlander (0-7, 4.70) staked the Phils to an early 2-0 lead, but he was just getting started, adding three doubles and scoring three times as he raised his average .10 points to .259.

Former Athletics prospect Jose Luzardo (8-5, 4.14) shut down the Giants with seven shutout innings, striking out seven while only walking one, his second seven inning scoreless effort of the season. Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto added three hits and two RBI’s for the Phillies.

Jose Luzardo delivers a pitch during his seven scoreless innings as Philadelphia rolled to a 13-0 win against the Giants.

Wilmer Flores was the only Giant batter to muster any offense, collecting two singles. Verlander pitched well, striking out seven in six innings, but was again hampered by a lack of support, in addition to having to pitch around three Giants errors behind him. Only two of the four runs he gave up were earned. It was the 42 year old’s 15th start of the season – His longest previous stretch of starts without a win was seven, in spite of sixth quality starts in 2025.

The game was 4-0 heading into the eighth, but a seven run Phillies outburst turned the game into a rout as 11 batters came to the plate, the first five getting hits off a highly ineffective Tristan Beck who got one out to show for the six earned runs he gave up as his ERA nearly doubled to a gaudy 8.10. Schwarber’s three run blast, his 29th, extended Philadelphia’s lead to 11-0.

The Giants return to action Friday after a day off tomorrow when the Dodgers visit San Francisco for the first time this season for a weekend series. Los Angeles comes in with a six game losing streak but still holding a five game lead over the second place Giants. Dustin May (5-5, 4.52) is scheduled to face Giants All-Star Logan Webb (8-6, 2.62) in the opener of the final series before the break.
