Each year for more than a dozen years, St. Catherine of Siena School students give back to the community during Catholic Schools Week on Helping Hands Day. Students in grades 5-6 spent the afternoon picking up trash at the Martinez Marina (pictured above), while grade 8 students helped organize the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry, and grade 2 kids made place mats for Meals on Wheels. Those in grades 1-4 serenaded residents at the Veterans Affair Medical Center on the day. “The joy that the veterans felt was matched and surpassed by the joy felt by our students helping others,” a representative from St. Catherine of Siena School said.
