Contra Costa County school districts announced their 2016-2017 Teachers of the Year this week. Twenty-two representatives were chosen from 17 different school districts within the county, two of whom will go on to represent the county in the California State Teacher of the Year Program this fall.
Erin Flanigan of Alhambra High School was chosen to represent Martinez Unified School District, with Shauna Hawes of Valley View Middle School chosen to represent the Mt. Diablo Unified School District, which also serves Martinez.
