In recognition of National Volunteer Month, Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Health Clinics (CCRMC) celebrated their 48th Annual Volunteer Awards and Recognition luncheon on April 13 at the Pleasant Hill Community Center.

Following a salad luncheon catered by Food for Thought, Volunteer Coordinator Rhonda Smith thanked all the volunteers for their service and then revealed statistics for the year.

There were 354 volunteers who provided 19,200 service hours for a value of $784,604, and donations from originations for various projects (layettes, stuffed animals, surgery pillows) and monetary contributions were worth an additional $4,121. Auxiliary special events and fundraisers raised $4,692, and the Auxiliary made purchases for CCRMC totaling $20,343.

Smith then introduced the new officers for the 2016 Auxiliary. They are: Bill Cunninghan, President; Jo-Ann Lee, President-Elect; Maria Jimenez, Secretary; and Betty Holt, Treasurer.

Lee, Auxiliary President recognized Shirley Peterson and Pat Ulmer as new Emeritus Volunteers and honored them for their many years of extra service to CCRMC – Peterson with 21 years, or 6,000 hours of service, and Ulmer with 21 years, or 6,400 hours. Lee then recognized other Emeritus Volunteers who were present – Doris Green, 23 years, 16,000 hours; Claire Mann, 24 years, 5,200 hours; Pat Evans, 18 years, 8,700 hours; and Ellsbeth Donvan, 22 years, 8,000 hours.

Smith and Bill Cunningham awarded service pins to all volunteers for years and hours of service. They are: Shirley Peterson, 21 years, 6,500 hours; Betty Holt, 21 years, 6,200 hours; Lorna Aylard, 21years, 3,400 hours; Deloris McDonald, 20 years, 3,900 hours; Maria Fogle, 12 years, 500 hours; Bill Cunningham, 11 years, 6,200 hours; Jo-Ann Lee, 7 years, 5,700 hours; Linda Waxman, 7 years, 3,800 hours; Maria Jemenez, 7 years, 2,000 hours; Florence Berghuis, 7 years, 1,900 hours; Josefina Raya, 7 years, 1,000 hours; Beverly Annis, 4 years, 1,400 hours; Jim Pettit, 4 years, 1,100 hours; Janet Betz, 3 years, 200 hours; Anita Mendez, 3 years, 200 hours; Patti Smith, 2 years, 400 hours; Nena Pettit, 2 years, 400 hours; Sonya Wyrobek, 2 years, 200 hours; Joy Rosenberg, 2 years, 200 hours; Llinh Luangrtath, 1 year, 100 hours; Bob Commins, 100 hours; Kathy Briggs-Gannon, 100 hours.

Special Project Volunteers – such as Pet Therapy, Art, etc. – were also awarded service pins, including: Linda Valenziano, Pat and Bill Chase, and Mary Lou Fucas. More than 150 other volunteers will received pins but were unable to be present at the luncheon.
