Tribune Athlete of the Week: Tony Moore

Alhambra High School junior Tony Moore (right) is this week’s Tribune Athlete of the Week, sponsored by Matthew C Rinn of State Farm.

Dougherty Valley hosted their 4th annual swimming pentathlon this past weekend, March 18, 2017.

Moore came in and competed hard in a large field of swimmers.

Moore came in second in the breaststroke, third in the individual medley, and fifth in the Butterfly at the competition.

Moore also finished first in all events he competed in at Alhambra’s first league meet last Wednesday against Ygnacio Valley.

The junior has been setting new high marks at Alhambra for his swimming prowess since his freshman year.

Last year, Moore competed in two individual events at NCS, finishing 12th overall. He qualified to compete at the State meet for 100-yard breaststroke and placed 16th. As a freshman, Moore broke the school record for 100-yard-breastroke, then beat his own record as a sophomore.

On top of his honors for the swim team, Moore was also named to the second-team all-DAL in water polo.

Teammate junior Donovan Ballot came in second in the butterfly at Dougherty Valley.
