Each month, more than 130,000 men and women in the Fifth Congressional District receive nearly $170 million in benefits, helping them put food on the table and provide for their families, Thompson said. He discussed a proposal to strengthen Social Security, increase benefits, cut taxes, and prevent seniors from retiring into poverty.
