Are you planning the ultimate family reunion this summer? We can help! We’ve compiled some simple tips to help you throw a family party no one will forget!
Pick the Right Location
As they say, location is everything, including family reunions. The ideal place for your reunion will depend on the number of people you expect.
It’s summer, so you want to get outside! A simple backyard family reunion is suitable for a handful of family members. Still, you’ll probably want to rent an outdoor space like a nearby park or picnic area for a larger gathering. Anywhere that has a grill should do the trick!
Have Additional Facilities
Large family reunions also mean lots of logistics to work out, which may not be fun or exciting to plan, but are critical. You should consider the restroom facilities if you expect a substantial number of relatives.
If you’re hosting at your house or in a public park, you might want to consider renting a porta potty for the event to ensure enough amenities for everyone.
Bring Plenty of Activities and Games
For some, simply getting together with family to catch up and reminisce is enough entertainment, but it’s still wise to have plenty of activities and games for the reunion. Set up a net for volleyball and badminton and organize a tournament of family versus family.
Have a scavenger hunt for the kids or a tug-of-war for the adults. Consider setting up a card tournament for the elders—and bring some prizes and rewards for the winners to stir up the competition!
Put On a Show
Is your family bursting with talent? Put it on display for everyone with a family talent show! Singing, juggling, magic tricks, dancing, instrument playing, skits—practically everyone has some talent to show off!
Appoint some judges or put it to a family vote at the end to determine the winner. The real winners will be everyone enjoying their amazingly talented family!
Capture Memories
With so many people and so many things happening, there’s no doubt you’ll create some memories. But you don’t want to forget them, so take plenty of photos and videos to share with everyone after the reunion!
If you don’t want to be busy taking pictures the whole time, consider hiring a professional photographer (or a talented family member) to take photos throughout the event so you can focus on having fun!
We hope our tips in helpful in your planning of the ultimate summer family reunion! If it’s a family gathering, we’re sure it’ll be a fantastic event!
