BY KAYLA BEIRNE

When the extreme heat of summer kicks in, you may be excited to spend more time outdoors. Here are some unique ways to stay cool in the summer sun.

Most people love the heat of summer, but it can be miserable for others. You may know of the more common ways to avoid overheating during this season, but this blog will explore some unique ways to help you stay cool.

Stay Indoors During Hottest Part of the Day

Find ways to stay inside or out of the hot summer heat when the sun is at its highest point. Between noon and three, take time to eat lunch, hydrate, take a nap, or tackle some indoor chores.

Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate

Staying hydrated is one of the best things you can do for your body at any time of the year. Find a large reusable water bottle that will keep your water cold, and keep extras in your vehicle for emergency purposes.

Strategically Chill

Your body has cooling points. Place ice pack, ice cubes, a cold towel, or a cold compress on top of your feet, behind your knees, or on your wrists. This trick will give you the pick-me-up you need to get through the rest of the day.

Eat More Fruit

Watermelon and grapes are two excellent fruit choices to consume during the summer. Watermelon is mainly water, which means hydration. Who wouldn’t want to hydrate with their favorite summertime fruit? For a delicious treat, blend ice, mint, and watermelon together; pour into a glass; and enjoy!

Throw green or red grapes into the freezer for another delicious summer treat that will cool you down. These are great for taking on picnics, hikes, or trips to the zoo. They’re cold, sweet snacks everyone will enjoy.

Wear Loose-Fitting Clothing in Light Colors

You want to give your body room to breathe. Avoid tight-fitting clothing that clings to your skin, which will trap heat and cause you to sweat. Some of the best fabrics to keep you cool include linen, cotton, and silk. Furthermore, avoid wearing dark colors such as black, purple, and navy blue. Instead, stick with light colors such as white, baby blue, and light gray.

Staying cool during the summer may seem impossible, but armed with these unique ways to stay cool in the summer sun, you may not be as miserable. Have a great summer!
