Engaging in these everyday activities that might be hurting your feet may be unavoidable, but there are measures you can take to help reduce the pain.
We stumble through life, going through the motions without considering what it’s doing to our bodies. For example, our feet take a beating every day, even if the effects aren’t apparent. Knowing what everyday activities might hurt your feet and how to treat them can sidestep any complications.
Going for a Jog
Your heart appreciates you jogging to boost your cardiovascular health, but your feet don’t share that same sentiment. Jogging on the streets and sidewalks punishes your feet, leading to potentially unbearable pain and discomfort. The best way to limit the blow jogging to your feet is to stretch them sufficiently before and after you run. If you continue to wing it and run without taking the proper precautions, it may be difficult for you to stand a few years from now.
Dance or Fitness Class
If you like dancing or if you exercise by leaping, spinning, or doing other quick, repeated actions, you may be endangering the condition of your feet. Since your feet consist of several small ligaments, bones, and other tissues, these motions can lead to stress fractures. Like jogging, take the appropriate amount of time to stretch before and after you dance.
Constant Skateboarding
Using a skateboard or longboard to get around town is an excellent way to circumvent the volatile gas prices, but it also puts more stress on your feet. Not wearing skate-specific shoes and not pacing yourself can cause your feet to hurt. Therefore, take your time skating and purchase the correct footwear.
Long Drives
Many folks make their living from driving professionally. Even though you are stationary, your ankle and feet are continually tense, and burning the midnight oil may trigger cramps that are difficult to fight when you’re behind the wheel. The best strategy to limit these spasms is to take frequent rest breaks, get out of your vehicle, and walk around. Frequently going for extended drives without taking a breather is a recipe for disaster.
Standing at Work
The most common activity that hurts your feet is simply standing all day long. Jobs that require you to be on your feet for an entire shift may cause your dogs to bark until your body acclimates itself to it. Use your rest breaks and lunches to get off your feet and stretch them out to keep your blood circulating. Unfortunately, it’s unavoidable with some occupations, so you can only do the best you can.
