The annual Corpus Christi (Boże Ciało) Procession from the Polish Our Lady Mother of Immigrants Chapel to St. Catherine of Siena Church in downtown Martinez, Sunday, May 29, 2016. The procession is a Catholic feast celebrated as a public holiday in Poland, and is the day when the Catholic Church commemorates the practice of Holy Eucharist, or Communion. “Corpus Christi” is a Latin phrase that refers to the body of Christ. During the succession, people scatter flowers on the streets to welcome Jesus, who is believed to walk the streets with the people during Corpus Christi processions. (JOHN GRUBKA / Courtesy)
