Athlete of the Week: Jadyn London

Alhambra High School sophomore Jadyn London is this week’s Tribune Athlete of the Week.

The sophomore midfielder has been crucial to the Alhambra girls lacrosse team’s plans for the future, and the present. The team has had a renewed sense of purpose in the last year, and is starting to make waves as a program.

London was integral in the Bulldogs’ last two victories, a 12-10 win over Washington-Fremont, and a 13-3 win over Clayton Valley Charter.

“She managed to dominate opposing players with 8 goals, 9 assists and controlling the draw circle,” said coach Richard Philbrook. “As a midfielder, Jadyn has great responsibility for both defense and offense; she showed her skills by denying goals against her, excellent ball handling and led the team with hustle, running back and forth the length of the field constantly.”

Both Philbrook and head coach John Sasaki have nothing but praise for the sophomore’s ability on the field, but also her role in the team dynamics.

“While not an official Captain, Jadyn consistently shows her leadership with dedication to the team and leading by example.  We would not be where we are today as a team and with our current record without the play of Jadyn London,” Philbrook said.
