Born November 20, 1930 in Shenandoah, Iowa, Dennie Lee Baugh passed away peacefully from acute myeloid leukemia on February 2, 2021 in Martinez. He was the son of Severn Baugh and Bernice Huffine Baugh.
He is survived by his loving wife Betty, brother James Baugh (Sandra), daughters Diane Bailey (Reginald) and Lynne Hile (Gregory), grandchildren Emily Dare, Katie Benson, Mike Hile, Lindsay Baca, and Justin Hile, six great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He served honorably in the United States Air Force and worked at the Concord Naval Weapons Station.
Dennie was a Master Mason of Martinez Lodge No. 41 (50-Year member), Scottish Rite, Aahmes Shrine, Dragons Unit, the Order of Quetzalcoatl, Jesters, and many other clubs and organizations. He worked hard, loved hard and taught us the importance of family and how to always “thank the man.” He loved the outdoors, traveled and saw many places.
He made sure everyone was always having a good time wherever you were, in the backyard by the pool, on the boat on the Delta, or in the living room at Christmas. His sense of order and efficiency was inspiring and Heaven better look out: it’s about to get “squared away.” He loved Sunday breakfast at his friend George Moore’s house and playing liar’s dice with the guys on Wing Wednesdays. “Let the games begin,” he would say.
He was the youngest 90-year old you could imagine. He was our patriarch and loved by all.
A celebration of his life will be held in the future when pandemic conditions allow. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Shriners Hospital or to Guide Dogs for the Blind.
