Cristopher Sanchez worked six scoreless innings and Nick Castellanos and Kyle Schwarber each homered and drove in a pair of runs as the Phillies salvaged the finale of their three game series against the Giants with a 6-1 win at Oracle Park Wednesday afternoon.
Sanchez (3-3, 2.83) was in control throughout, only allowing four hits and a walk while striking out seven as Philadelphia retained the best record in the Majors at 39-18. Schwarber led off the game with a home run against Giants starter and loser Kyle Harrison (4-2, 4.15), the 36th leadoff homer of his career.
Castellanos added his two run shot in the fifth and had three hits on the day. Harrison had his worst outing of the season, allowing 12 of the Phils 14 hits in a five inning stint that also saw him walk a batter. Randy Rodriguez came on in the eighth to toss additional gas on the fire, giving up an additional pair of runs on two hits while walking three in his inning pitched.
San Francisco averted the shutout by plating their only run in the ninth when a Heliot Ramos single drove in Wilmer Flores who had doubled two batters earlier.
Following a day off, the Giants will return to action Friday night to start a three game series with the Yankees. Marcus Stroman (4-2, 2.76) is scheduled to face Jordan Hicks (4-1, 2.33) in the opener.
