Bryan Woo and three Seattle relievers combined on a two hit shutout, leading the Mariners to a 3-0 win over the Athletics Thursday afternoon.

Alameda native Bryan Woo delivers a pitch on the way to six shutout innings for Seattle against the Athletics at the Coliseum Thursday afternoon in a 3-0 Mariners win.
Woo (3-0, 1.07), who grew up in nearby Alameda, allowed only the two hits without walking a batter while striking out six in an near effortless manner. Austin Voth, Mike Baumann and Ryne Stanek each pitched a perfect inning in relief as the A’s could only muster two baserunners in the entire game on a pair of singles.
“Bryan was awesome today,” Mariners manager Scott Servais said. “Can’t throw the ball much better than he is right now. I actually thought he was throwing better in the fifth and sixth than he was early in the game.”
Mitch Garver had an RBI single in the fourth and solo home run in the ninth to provide all the offense Seattle would need to extend their lead in the AL West to five games over the Texas Rangers.
JP Sears (4-5, 3.93) had another solid outing for the A’s, striking out eight while only allowing two runs on three hits in six innings as Oakland fell to their sixth loss in their last eight games.
Next up for Oakland is a three game weekend series with the Toronto Blue Jays. Former Athletic Chris Bassitt (6-6, 4.13) takes the mound for Toronto tomorrow night against Hogan Harris (0-0, 3.14) in the opener.
