Alhambra High School senior Jack Fuller (6) is this week’s Tribune Athlete of the Week, sponsored by Matthew C Rinn of State Farm.
Fuller’s last three-game run was unlike anything Alhambra soccer has seen in quite some time. Coincidentally, it also happened to launch one of the more successful runs for the Bulldog soccer team so far this season.
Fuller bagged a pair of goals in the Bulldogs’ 3-3 tie against Campolindo on Jan. 16, but he was nowhere near done.
The senior forward proceeded to all three goals in the Bulldogs’ first win since December in a 3-0 rout of Berean Christian-Walnut Creek, before hitting another hat trick against Livermore on Saturday, Jan. 21.
The eight-goal outburst last week takes his season total to 15, which leads the Bulldogs.
“Jack has been our go-to guy all season long,” said coach Rory Gentry. “Last week it all came together for him.
“He is such a work horse and a great student and captain. He leads mostly by example, a true teammate,” Gentry said of the senior.
Fuller has been playing at the varsity level since his sophomore year, and is one of only five seniors that make up the soccer team’s 26-man roster.
