Max Scherzer delivers a pitch during the Rangers 6-1 win over the Athletics Tuesday night.
Scherzer (11-4, 3.88) in just his second start for Texas after being acquired from mthe Mets at the trade deadline, was his old dominant self, holding the A’s hitless into the fourth before JJ Bleday connected for a solo home run to get Oakland on the board. Scherzer scattered three hits while walking two and recording six strikeouts.
It was the eighth straight win for Texas and their second straight over the A’s. The Rangers jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the fourth on the strength of doubles by Robbie Grossman and Sam Huff prior to a Marcus Semien single and another double by Corey Seager. A solo homer by Seeger in the seventh, his 19th, stretched the lead to 5–1.
The two teams return to action for the final game of the three game series tomorrow with Jordan Montgomery (7-9, 3.40) facing off against Oakland’s Freddy Tarnok (0-1, 6.75) at 12:35pm.
