Trey Lance led the 49ers on a game winning eight play drive down the field in the final two minutes to set up a last second 20-yard field goal by Jake Moody in a 21-20 win over the Denver Broncos Saturday evening at Levi’s Stadium in the team’s preseason home opener.
Niners starting quarterback Brock Purdy made his preseason debut, leading San Francisco down the field for a field goal in his only series, showing no signs of the torn UCL injury in the elbow of his throwing arm that sidelined him early in the Niners NFC Championship game loss against the Eagles.
Purdy went 4-5 for 65 yards thru the air on the games opening drive, while Lance, who missed the final 15 regular season games of the 2022 season along with the playoffs with a fractured ankle, went 12-18 for 173 yards with a touchdown and an interception while playing most of the second half.
The 49ers close out their preseason schedule on Friday night at 7pm with a game against the Los Angeles Chargers at Levi’s Stadium.
